What is at issue?
Beyond emissions trading: impact of own climate position on corporate financing, customer loyalty, investments and operating costs
Every industrial company is already feeling it; a robust climate neutrality and sustainability strategy is becoming an existential competitive factor.
- TheCO2 emissions trading system is picking up speed: TheCO2 prices of the European Emissions Trading Scheme are rising from one all-time high to the next, so that experts consider prices of over 100€/tCO2 to be realistic in the near future. National emissions trading has also been taking effect since 2021.
- Customers’ requirements are becoming more specific: It is not only as a supplier to the automotive industry that anyone who does not have a plan for climate-neutral production will be left out in the cold.
- Financing becomes climate relevant: Corporate financing at competitive conditions, whether by taking out loans, issuing bonds or raising equity, is now only possible with sufficient consideration of climate risks and opportunities. And this includes not only our own and importedCO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2), also the international upstream chain and the life cycle of the products (Scope 3) must be considered according to requirements of customers and investors.
The executives and the experts in purchasing and energy and environmental management have many threads in their hands for goal-oriented climate management and are a non-negligible part of the solution in this important phase of reorientation.
At 16. and 17. September, experienced experts from industry, politics and finance together with GALLEHR+PARTNER® will shed light on the opportunities and risks of the upcoming challenges on the way to a climate-neutral industrial country Germany.
The two-day GALLEHR+PARTNER® Symposium 2021 will focus in particular on the following topics:
- PracticalCO2 and climate management
- Company valuation and financing under consideration of the climate position
- Beyond Emissions Trading: Demands and Support from Legislators and Authorities for Climate Neutrality
- Self-generation, integration of PPAs, guarantees of origin and reduction certificates as part of the solution
