Valerie LeMaistre has been fascinated by the world’s oceans and forests since childhood, which made it clear to her early on that she wanted to work towards a more sustainable future for people and the environment. She therefore decided to study environmental management at Justus Liebig University in Giessen after graduating from high school. There she was enriched by a diverse range of subjects. In addition to the natural sciences such as recycling management, bioenergy and hydrology, she also studied environmental economics, sustainability communication and corporate environmental management.

In her bachelor’s thesis, she analysed the effects of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in aquaculture, the impact of their use on the marine ecosystem and how sustainable pharmaceutical and technological use can ensure future food security. At GALLEHR+PARTNER^®, Valerie LeMaistre is primarily responsible for European emissions trading.
